Privacy Policy

ScentLens (“ScentLens,” “we,” “us”), an application by Velora Prima, is built privacy-first. ScentLens has no user accounts and does not ask you to create a profile or hand over personal details to use the app. This policy explains exactly what the app does with your data.

Camera & captured images

The camera is used only when you actively tap the shutter to capture a scan — never in the background. When you do, the captured frame is encoded as a base64 image and transmitted securely over encrypted HTTPS to Google’s Gemini AI for real-time scent and compound analysis. The image is sent for the sole purpose of producing the scent profile you requested. We do not operate our own servers and do not store your photos; the structured result is returned directly to your device.

Google Gemini AI (third-party processing)

Image and text analysis is performed by the Google Gemini API on Google’s paid-tier infrastructure. The frames you capture (and any product-label text within them) are processed by Google subject to Google’s applicable API and privacy terms. Google’s paid API terms state that data submitted through it is not used to train Google’s foundation models. We do not control Google’s independent processing and encourage you to review their policy.

On-device storage (your Vault)

Scents you choose to save, along with your discovery progress (Nose Level and the Olfactive Atlas), are stored locally on your device in an on-device SQLite database — your private Vault. This information never leaves your phone, is never uploaded to us, and is not accessible to Velora Prima. Deleting a saved scent, clearing the app’s data, or uninstalling the app permanently removes it.

What we do not collect

• No names, emails, or sign-in credentials (unless you choose to email us directly).
• No advertising identifiers and no advertising of any kind.
• No third-party tracking or analytics SDKs that profile you.
• No location data, contacts, microphone recordings, or health data.

Read-aloud (text-to-speech)

When you tap a speaker control, ScentLens uses your device’s built-in voice engine to read a scent profile aloud. No audio is recorded or transmitted.

Children’s privacy

ScentLens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will address it.

Security & your choices

Transmissions to Google use encrypted HTTPS, and local data lives inside the app’s sandboxed storage. You remain in control: revoke camera access at any time in your device Settings, and delete your locally stored scents whenever you wish. EU/UK residents have rights of access and erasure under the GDPR — because we hold no server-side personal data, these are largely exercised directly on your device, and you may contact us with any request.

We may update this policy as the app evolves; the “Effective” date above always reflects the current version.

By downloading, accessing, or using ScentLens, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Your use of ScentLens is also subject to Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA).

The service

ScentLens is an AI-powered tool that interprets scents — from fragrances to food to the world around you — into descriptive, editorial scent profiles, for informational and entertainment purposes.

Not professional advice

Scent profiles, ingredient readings, and compound interpretations are AI-generated and may be inaccurate or incomplete. They are not medical, allergen, dietary, safety, or professional advice. Do not rely on ScentLens to identify allergens or determine whether any product is safe to use, eat, wear, or inhale. Always consult a product’s official labelling and a qualified professional.

ScentLens Premium subscription

ScentLens offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, ScentLens Premium by Velora Prima:

• Price: US$4.99 per month (or the equivalent in your local currency shown in the App Store).
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
• You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time in your App Store Account Settings after purchase.
• Any unused portion of a free trial period, where offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

The free tier includes a limited number of daily scans. Premium unlocks unlimited olfactory translations, Multi-Shot scent blending, and full Olfactive Atlas access. Billing, renewals, and refunds are managed by Apple in accordance with the App Store terms.

Acceptable use

• Use ScentLens lawfully and only as intended.
• Do not reverse-engineer, resell, or abuse the service or its underlying AI providers.
• Do not submit unlawful, infringing, or harmful content for analysis.

Intellectual property

ScentLens, the ScentLens name and logo, and the in-app Velora Prima heritage-fragrance branding are the property of Velora Prima. The Velora Prima fragrance house is presented as an editorial brand experience within the app.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

ScentLens is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. Analysis depends on third-party AI services and your network connection and may be unavailable or imperfect. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Velora Prima shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dublin, Ireland.
